Ravinia Festivals Best Season Ever?
Tickets just went on sale for the 2008 season at Ravinia Festival. Those who don’t live in Highland Park, Deerfield or Glencoe might not know that the Ravinia Festival is the oldest outdoor music festival in North America dating back to 1904. Homes in the Ravinia neighborhood of Highland Park are highly prized, so much so that new home owners in Ravinia are often surprised to find how many friends and family they didn’t know that they had wanting to park in their driveway on concert nights.
Anyway, back to this seasons fantastic line-up that promises to offer something for everyone. Notable appearances this year include James Taylor, Robert Plant, Willie Nelson, Poi Dog Pondering, Lang Lang, Sheryl Crow, UB40, Aimee Mann and Squeeze along with some Ravinia Festival regulars The Chicago Symphony Orchestra, A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keilor, Lyle Lovett, The Beach Boys, Hootie & The Blowfish, Los Lobos, Buddy Guy and the Gypsy Kings.
And proving that there is something for everyone (though I don’t know who) Kenny Loggins, The Backstreet Boys (no, I am not kidding) and Boz Scaggs will be taking the stage.
